Dear Santa,
How are you and Mrs. Claus doing? You must be very busy with Christmas coming up; my family has been busy as well. We have been trying to get things done earlier this year so that we have more time during the holidays to spend enjoying each others company.
David is in school again and doing very well. I stay home with Austin and work at the same time when I can. I usually work for 4-6 hours a day answering letters about the products I work with (essential oils, personal care, supplements). I guess our jobs aren’t too different. :) I hopefully make people happy by answering their questions, and then spend the rest of my time with my son playing. Do you get to play with the toys you make? I have also been making a lot of things for family members lately, mostly Christmas presents so far. Once Christmas is over I may think about starting some new projects.
When David and I aren’t “working” we generally relax by either reading (currently reading the 4th Twilight book) together or watching movies or a couple of our favorite TV shows (EMHE & Bones) online. Every once in a while we might go out, but not very often. I can always think of something/someone else I would rather spend money on. It is harder for me to think about spending that money on going out. Do you ever go on dates with Mrs. Claus?
So you can see we are pretty simple individuals all things considered, and I don’t feel like I need a whole lot. Sure every once in a while I look at my clothes and think, “I wish I had at least one more pair of jeans that were the right size or a few more long sleeves shirts…” so I don’t feel like I am wearing the same thing everyday, but I certainly don’t expect people to pick these things for me. I know it is hard to guess my “taste” for some people.
Then there are those VHS movies I am still trying to replace with DVD copies (The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Manhattan Murder Mystery, etc.) especially now that the VCR is broken. Austin loves to see how things work and while exploring the VCR accidentally caused it to cease working. I didn’t get very mad though; I love how inquisitive and smart he is. You should have seen him crouching on the floor peering into the VCR slot.
I actually feel really blessed that things are going so well and that we have very few wants. Most of the time I err on the side of space and opt to do without things I think are cool (especially some of those awesome kitchen gadgets! I do love to cook…most of the time) because I am afraid of clutter and lack of space more stuff may cause; I have always been that way. You can ask my parents…the last several years my Christmas list has been comprised of the things I need on a regular basis that I would just rather not buy for myself (cotton face swabs, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes, shaving cream, etc.).
Well, Austin just woke up from his nap. I should go get him ready. We have a full day ahead of us. I am sure you understand what that is like. Wish Mrs. Claus a happy holiday as well, and good luck with your deliveries this year. Don’t worry about looking for us too hard. We are just going to stay in Provo this year for Christmas since we are taking a trip to California a week before Christmas.
Love,
Jaclyn
P.S. I thought this would be fun (especially since David and I re-read one of my old Santa Letters a few months ago) to put myself in this frame of mind. It made it so much easier to write! :) I think it gives you a pretty decent view of what my life is like on a daily basis though.

I think the letter was great. We do letters for Mike's family.
I agree, letters are a nice style. What kitchen gadgets have you been eyeing, that you don't have already?
What do you like to do when you go out? That's an admirable quality to rather spend money on others!
You know I didn't even realize these comments were here until a couple days ago and then I needed to give myself time to think...sorry for the delay.
I don't even know if I could name some of the kitchen gadgets off the top of my head. I know I always think the palm peeler looks fun though, and I have debated individual silicone muffin cups for a while. I guess those are just a couple.
When we do go out it is generally to eat or to a movie (even more rare). Most of the time I hate asking people to babysit, so unless someone comes up to us and says, "I am coming over to babysit" Austin always goes with us. Luckily he loves eatting out! My new favorite place to eat is the Pizza Factory. Of course I still enjoy Wingers and Olive Garden. I don't think we have spent much time getting creative because the opportunities seem so few.
